Milwaukee LITHIUM-ION Battery
Milwaukee is the leader in LITHIUM-ION technology, launching the first Li-Ion System in 2005 and the first backward compatible Li-Ion in 2006. Perfecting the formula in 2008, Milwaukee’s LITHIUM-ION batteries are 65% lighter, 50% smaller and store more than 30% more power than “compact” NiCd batteries. They also feature a Fuel Gauge that lets you know when to recharge, making it quicker and simpler to scope projects and decrease downtime.
To combat on-site problems like bent/broken terminals, hurt clips and broken welds caused by use and abuse, Milwaukee LITHIUM-ION batteries are equipped with recessed terminals, slide pack dual clips and over-molded housing, and integrated welded frame and cell separators.

I saw a promo poster in one of the hardware stores I frequent and was very interested in this tool. When I questioned about it, the manager told me that as a high-volume Milwaukee dealer they had received one of the first batches to be released, and had already sent them all back because the units kept breaking. Can’t remember what part it was but it was one piece consistently. The stats on the driver sound excellent but if it doesn’t last then stats aren’t excellent for much, so I’m curious. Has anyone had one break during use?

First let me say this is the coolest looking tool mikwaukee has made yet, I’m pleased to see the company is putting more thought into the look of their tools.
Unfortunately, the tool handle is way to STOUT to be comfortable for anyone with less than large hands.
Comparitevly, the Milwaukee V28 tools are FAR more comfortable to hold than this tool is. I found my hand getting tired after driving one screw!
The Makita 18v lithium tools have such a superior feel they make this tool feel amatuer in design. It is nearly comical to reckon that the purpose of this tool is to be compact and light weight and a total pleasure to use.
It is far from any of those things, the foward/reverse
switch is positioned in a place that nearly garantees your gonna hit it while squeezing the trigger which disengages the motor or reverses the tool by accident, on top of that the feel of the switch is really flimsy. There is no compasion to the fit and feel of the new makita, or dewalt tools.
As a remodeling contractor and homeowner, I could not see any value in this tool as it is.

This would be the best compact lithium drill on the market except for one thing: IT CAN’T USE STANDARD DRILL BITS. Instead, you have to buy special bits that aren’t cheap. OK, you’re on the jobsite and you need to drill a hole. You have the right size bit, but wait! This drill only takes special bits! Don’t have the one you need? You either have to drive to the hardware store and pay through the nose, or you’re SOL.
The clueless marketing exec who made the choice to go with this worthless chuck design ought to be downsized.

If the price was lower it would be a childs toy.
If you want a compact, overpriced, powered driver then buy this. Milwaukee makes an impact driver; which looks and feels exactly like this and is a much better tool overall. If you really need a compact driver, find something less expensive.
